To learn more about the bison and other environmental issues in the West, please visit one of the following:

The Buffalo Field Campaign is dedicated to stopping the needless slaughter of bison who wander outside the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park into neighboring Montana.

If you're interested in learning more about innovative solutions to ranching/conservation issues, High Country News recently featured an excellent article about conservation easements by Jon Christensen; an article that concludes: "Neither cows nor conservation will even be an option in the future if conservationists and ranchers don't pull together." Read more at: www.hcn.org/servlets/hcn.Article?article_id=14648

This article by Ron Tschida, which appeared recently in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, highlights the work of the Undaunted Stewardship Program, sponsored jointly by the Montana Stockgrowers Association, the BLM and Montana State University College of Agriculture. The program recognizes ranchers' contributions to conservation, and illustrates how ranching and conservation are not mutually exclusive.

If you'd like to "visit" Yellowstone's elk and bison populations, an excellent DVD set (Ruttin' Elk and Ruttin' Buffler) can be ordered at: http://www.customflix.com/Store/ShowTtl.jsp?id=204948. The passion of the video's producers and cinematographers, barb abramo and Phil Morton, for Yellowstone's elk and buffalo comes through in these amazing videos that bring you up close to the animals during rutting season.

If you'd like to learn about other issues I've written about in previous books, here are some great sources of information:
